The Winemaker of the Year of the Czech Republic has built a reputation as one of the highest quality and most prestigious competitions in the Czech Republic. The international composition of wine tasting jury supports the prestigious World Standards for Wine Quality Assessment. An objective and independent assessment of the quality of wines in an international context is very important for competition. When the rules were made seventeen years ago, the organizers tried to find a model that not only assesses the quality of one wine but also allows you to assess the level of the entire wine collection.
The Winemaker of the Year of the Czech Republic awards individual wines with a gold, silver and bronze medal in the competition categories but at the same time assesses the quality of each submitted wine collection of individual winemakers or wineries. From the first round of evaluation, eight winemakers with the best scoring average advance to the grand final. To assess the level of complex work of a winemaker, each collection must contain wines of at least three competition categories. In the grand final, all eight collections are evaluated again, regardless of scoring in the first round.
