Introducing a new winery at the "Friends of Good Wine" tastings - the Antonín Žiška Winery - it operates as a small family winery with the whole family involved. Tonda started winemaking more than thirty years ago mainly for his own pleasure and his love of wine was a hobby. Today, he is already fully engaged in "winemaking" and since 2017 you can taste his wines at tastings under the label Žiška Jaroslavice. That his love for wine runs in the family can also be seen in his son Zbyněk, who works as the chief oenologist of the Bzenec Chateau Winery and Mikrosvín Mikulov Winery and was awarded the title of Enologist of the Year 2020 in the Winery of the Year competition in 2020.
Just over 7,000 bottles are produced annually, mainly in traditional varieties such as Veltliner green, sauvignon, riesling, riesling walrus, Neuburg, Ruland grey, pálava and pinot noir. As a rule, every year the winery also enjoys trying a new variety or using a different vinification method.
In processing the grapes, the winery follows the natural way. The wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels. All wine is blended on coarse or fine yeasts. Taste is most important to the winemaker, so he does his best to ensure that you get a fruity wine with a subtle hint of terroir in your glass. This winery's wines will taste as young as they are young, and they don't shy away from aging in your archival cellars.LAJ
