Masterclass with the national sommelier Klára Kollárová or a lecture with tasting and discussion on Riesling

The lecture with tasting on the topic of Riesling will be led by Klára Kollárová. Riesling is a variety that resonates strongly among winemakers not only in the Czech Republic. It offers a wide range of different styles and approaches to processing, which we will discuss and would like to discuss in our masterclass. At the same time, this grape variety is on the rise and very trendy abroad, thanks to the countries where it is widely planted and which see in this variety a way to attract consumers bored with Chardonnay and Sauvignon. We will be tasting our own and international foreign wines, with an emphasis on the differences in conceptual styles and quality levels. We will blind-assess the wines using the interactive Slido app and then discuss opinions on the wines together. The tasting will include winning or highly ranked wines from the two current GROW and Wöschmeisterschaft 2023 world walrus competitions!

Destination: To offer wines for tasting from a variety we hold in high regard, conceived with a different perspective and place of origin. Of course, in comparison with domestic production.

Program:
- Presentation of the varietal to be tasted.
- Tasting of 15 samples of foreign and domestic wines
- Discussion of the wines and their processing
- Discussion on walnut as a world trend
- After the end, the possibility of further discussion

Target group: professional wine public, primarily winemakers from Moravia and Bohemia

The project is supported by the Wine Fund and the National Wine Centre.

Masterclass with the national sommelier Klára Kollárová or a lecture with tasting and discussion on Pinot Noir

Klára Kollárová will give a classic lecture with a tasting on Pinot Noir. We will discuss all the important information about the variety from the vineyard and cellar point of view, we will taste our and international wines with emphasis on the local terroir, the possibilities of different processing and we will emphasize the evaluation of quality and price. We will also be interested in the concepts of regions that have managed to make the most of the variety commercially.

In five tasting sets, we will taste fifteen wines from the international and local scene in different wine styles. Each participant will first rate the wines themselves on the Elwis system, and then we will evaluate them qualitatively and oenologically together, with an emphasis on market pricing as a matter of course. An oenologist specialising in the particular variety will take care of the proper evaluation of the wines together with the national sommelier.

Objective: To look at wine not only in terms of production and quality, but with a perspective that has helped other regions to move forward. Another goal will be to critically examine our wines in the context of foreign wines - price, sensory and philosophical - and to see what their potential isl not only for export, but above all how competitive they are with imported wines of good quality from similar regions in terms of price and sensory quality.

Programme:
- Presentation of the varieties to be tasted
- Tasting of 15 samples of foreign and local wines
- Discussion of the wines and their processing
- Discussion on the concept of Moravian winemaking
- After the end of the meeting, the possibility of further discussion

Target group: professional wine public, primarily winemakers from Moravia and Bohemia

The project is supported by the Wine Fund and the National Wine Centre.
