Další popis

The idea of organising wine festivals follows the first republican tradition of large ethnographic exhibitions in Hradec Králové. The idea quickly found a wide spontaneous response in the wine-growing villages and towns and the Slovácké Wine and Open Monuments Festivals earned a prestigious and recognised status despite their short historical existence.

It is a purely non-commercial showcase of the region's cultural heritage, which is co-organised by the micro-regions of Staroměstsko, Ostrožsko - Veselsko, Východní Slovácko, Dolní Polesaví, Za Moravú, Bílé Karpaty and Buchlov under the expert guarantee of the Uherské Hradiště Culture Club.
Almost a hundred towns and villages from the surroundings of Uherské Hradiště are involved in the programme, joined by the partner towns of Uherské Hradiště: Bridgewater (UK), Mayen (Germany), Sárvár (Hungary), Krosno (Poland) and Skalica (Slovakia).

Since 2003, the historic centre of Uherské Hradiště has been regularly transformed into one big stage on the second weekend in September, where dozens of folk ensembles, dulcimer bands and brass bands perform, and together with wine tasting, bourbon and regional gourmet specialties create an unforgettable experience for tens of thousands of visitors.

"Dance is like wine, it matures with each performance."
Alarmel Valli

A great deal of the success and popularity of the event is also due to the unique historical monuments that the royal city of Uherské Hradiště (which is the proud recipient of the title of Historical City of the Year 2011) is literally dotted with. The genius loci of sacred and secular buildings and traditional folk architecture are naturally and rarely combined with the beauty of Slovak costumes and a stylish cultural programme on the occasion of the Slovak Wine Festival and Open Monuments.
