Characteristics of the trail
Length of the trail: 130 km.
The trail takes in two of the main wine sub-regions – Znojmo and Velké Pavlovice.
The Brno wine trail starts along the northern edge of the Velké Pavlovice wine sub-region. On its pilgrimage it passes from Moravany on a long ascent to Modřice. Crossing beneath the motorway at Želešice and following the railway crossing the trail takes you on the road as far as Slavkov (Austerlitz). The quiet and peaceful route and level countryside is dotted about with chapels, crosses and shrines, the testimony of the religious feeling of rural Moravia. A gorgeous stretch of the eastern branch of the track is the climb up on the edge of the Ždánice forest natural park from Lovčičky nad Kobeřice. When you travel through Moravské Bránice and Dolní Kounice going southwards you come to the Znojmo wine sub-region and countryside famed for its red wines, while in the village of Ivaň there is an intersection with the Mikulov wine trail.
