Establishment
The wine breeding station in Polešovice was founded in 1922 as the State Vine Nursery in the Podchřibská region in the Uherské Hradiště region. The first task of the station was to solve the problems with the grapevine aphid and peronospora. Since 1957, work has been carried out on the creation of new varieties, and work has further focused on maintenance breeding. Today we maintain 29 varieties with 32 clones. A total of 8 new grape varieties have been bred at the station, including four grape varieties. The most famous grape variety is Muscat of Moravia (Mopr), released in 1987. 2017 will be the 30th anniversary of its entry into the SOK. Today it is one of the most widespread domestic new varieties. Other grape varieties are Sevar 2008, Florianka 2010 and Mery 2015. The SOK also includes table large-fruited varieties - Olšava 1988, Vitra 1993 and Pola 2001. Among the rootstock varieties is the Amos 1990. The varieties Trasonia and Muskana have been entered into variety trials. Research tasks are being carried out to develop resistant and virus-free varieties. Tested vine materials are supplied to nurserymen throughout the country for the purpose of propagating vine seedlings and establishing new vineyards. The station offers a range of varietal wines in barrel or bottled form. The cycle path from Uh. Hradiště starts near the station and the station area becomes a stop for many cyclists. In addition to wine sales, we also provide guided wine tastings for groups in the area on the Štýrská terrace with a great view of the Hostýnské Hills, Vizovice Hills, the White Carpathians and the Morava River floodplain and vineyards. The tasting room, called Golan Heights, can also accommodate a whole busload of people. Those who have been here come back happy. There is also the possibility of tastings in the historic three-hundred-year-old cellar in the famous Vinařská Street. In addition to wines, we offer grapes, bourbon, grape juice and syrup, and in the spring vine seedlings.
