The tradition of winemaking in our family began in the first half of the 20th century. At that time, however, winemaking was done only for personal use - and mainly for the love of wine. This changed partly due to the collectivisation of agriculture in the 1950s, which had a negative impact on the private sector at the time. Fortunately, our agricultural cooperative had a warm relationship with winemaking and decided to continue to develop it - so it planted new vineyards in the village and built a cellar farm. One of the founders of this dynasty was Mojmír Valihrach (*1933), a graduate of the Vocational School of Wine in Valtice. He was assisted by his brother Antonín Valihrach, the oldest. (*1927), who worked both in the vineyards and in the cellar in the production and treatment of wine. Antonín also cultivated his own private vineyard with his own family and produced his own wine. The year 1989 marked a turning point in the Valihrach family, when the totalitarian regime fell. In our family circle, we moved the winery forward and in 1994 we started to make wine in the Krumvíř Wine Farm (former cellar of the JZD). In 1997 we planted 1.4 hectares of young vineyards, where the following varieties reigned supreme. Other varieties were purchased from neighbouring villages such as Dambořice, Čejč or Násedlovice. The key source for us, however, was the Velkopavlovice area stretching from Velké Němčice to Moravský Žižkov. It is a series of vineyard mountains of first-class quality, where grapes ripen on deeper clay soils with a good supply of ready nutrients. In autumn, these tracks are washed by warm Phoenician winds, which accelerate the ripening of the grapes and have a very positive effect on the overall quality of the raw material. In 2002 and 2004 we planted our vineyards with new varieties of Sauvignon, Blue Portugal, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, Zweigeltrebe, St. Lawrence and Sylvan Green. In 2010, our cellar was expanded to include an archival and experiential cellar, POD KUMSTÁTEM, for wine tastings, celebrations and corporate events. Another milestone came in 2012, when we acquired complete controlled fermentation technology (refrigerated fully automatic tanks....) and in 2013 we renovated the lager cellar. In 2014 we planted another section of vineyards with Aurelius and Hibernal varieties. We currently farm 3.5 hectares of vineyards and total wine production is about 20,000 bottles and 15,000 litres of cask wine. As we have done since the beginning, we use technology for the complete production and bottling of so-called peasant wines. We also pass on the knowledge of wine and winemaking to our children, for whom winemaking is not only fun, but also their first school and lesson. We firmly believe that when the children grow up, they will continue our tradition and will not allow the Valihrach wine family to fall into oblivion.
