About the winery
The family winery is managed by Hana, František makes wine and both sons work hard. The new production hall can be found in Belegrady. We prefer the harmony of the wine to the purity of the varietal. The wines are aged for a long time on yeast lees, you can also find white destemmed wines. Our production is very wide, besides wines from stainless steel you will find wines from barrique barrels and special concrete tanks. The wine here is given plenty of time to mature, the winemaker himself says: "The ideal is to let it be, it will tell itself".

František Mádl, also known as the Little Winemaker from Velké Bílovice, is a creator of quality and attribute wines. He focuses on quality wines from varieties for which Velkopavlovice is an ideal region. Recently, he has also successfully applied modern trends in winemaking - the use of barrique barrels, which gives Moravian red wines an interesting flavour dimension. Among the winemaker's jewels is the Alibernet variety, which can boldly compete with foreign red wines.
The village of Velké Bílovice is located on the south-eastern edge of the Velkopavlovice wine region. The soils for growing vines are mainly made up of silty loam, in places exposed to calcareous clay. At lower altitudes they are represented by chernozem. This diversity of soils provides good conditions for growing most varieties. It produces over 800 hl of wine a year. The wines are mostly aged in stainless steel containers, but barrels and barriques can also be found. It uses controlled fermentation and modern technology. It focuses on organic production of so-called organic wine, which means growing grapes and making wine without excessive use of chemicals. The term "small winemaker" does not mean that František Mádl produces only a few hectolitres of wine for his own use, but above all his approach to winemaking as a state industry. He knows every single bush in the vineyard, which he treats several times during the year, he knows which soil each variety belongs to and he carefully considers when to harvest which grapes. Simply put, the small winemaker is also selling a piece of himself, his expression, with his wine - a wine with a soul.
