PPS AGRO, a. s. is a traditional producer of wines from the wine-growing villages of Popice, Pouzdřany and Strachotín, at the foot of the Pálava Hills and the Pouzdřany Steppe, where wine growing and production has a centuries-old tradition. The company was established in 1995 from the original agricultural cooperative. The spectrum of activities includes many areas of agricultural production, from crop production to livestock to fruit and wine production with associated winemaking. It manages 72 hectares of vineyards in an integrated way in the quality wine-growing areas of Mitrberk, Kolby, Sonberk, U hřiště, Nad sklepy and Šusfeldy. This area also includes 30 ha of new plantings of Irsai Oliver, Pinot Noir and Neronet. The harvest is processed in Strachotín, the wine is matured before bottling in the barrel cellars in Popice, and the bottle archive is in Pouzdřany. In 2007, the winery purchased a pneumatic press and other technologies, such as air conditioning of the bottling plant for wines with higher residual sugar. Annual production is around 250 000 bottles, with a significant predominance of quality wines. The winery has a range of young wines, but also bottle-aged wines - selected lots have been stored in the archive cellar since 1963. The company regularly produces straw wine from the Pálava variety and young "Martina" rosé from the Svatovavřinecké variety. Portions of batches of Svatovařinecký, Frankovka and Pinot Noir are aged in barriques. In Strachotín, PPS AGRO has a wine cellar with a tasting room for 20 people, accommodation is available in our tourist hostel.
Pinot Gris is known all over the world. Pinot comes from the French pin as the pine cone resembles the shape of a pinot grape. Pinot Gris is also interesting by the fact that although it is a white wine, the color of the grape is almost blue, more precisely gray-blue-red. It is widespread in all sub-areas, mostly in the Velkopavlovice region.
