Wine sub-region Mikulovská
Municipality: Březí u Mikulova
The Kadrnka family winery is located in the wine-growing village of Březí u Mikulova near the Pavlovské and Dunajovské Hills. The fourth generation of the Kadrnka family continues to work in the winery, but only the first generation is working on a professional level.
Jindřich Kadrnka considers his most important professional step to be joining the Mikrosvín Mikulov winery in 2001, where he received the opportunity and essential training from his greatest mentor Ing. Zdeněk Peřina. He was also at the establishment of the Galant winery, from where he left in 2009 to Vinařství Volařík. Here he worked together with his friend Filip Mlýnek until 2019. He also spent some time working in Austria. The whole set of valuable experience gained then allowed him to raise the family tradition to today's level.
Currently, the winery manages 10 hectares of vineyards in the Mikulov wine sub-region on the slopes of the Dunajov Hills, one of the warmest places in the country. In Březí, these are the vineyard lines Liščí vrch and Ořechová hora, in Dobrý Polí the line Staré and in Mikulov the line Za Turoldem.
All the vineyards of the Kadrnka winery profess the spirit of integrated production, with around 5,500 vines per hectare, producing one bottle of wine per vine. In the production of wine, emphasis is placed on all work in the vineyard. Chemical intervention is kept to a minimum, and a gentle approach is taken to the vines, grapes and wine, all in keeping with the aforementioned integrated production.
In the cellar, the wine is then finished as gently as possible, without unnecessary interventions and inputs. White wines are stored in stainless steel tanks, wooden barrels and concrete eggs, and these make up an increasing proportion of production. The wooden barrels for white wines are French oak, Slavonian oak and acacia. Red wines of the Merlot variety are produced in two lines. In the basic, when the wine sits on the barrels for 12-18 months and goes on sale after 2 years and then Reserva, when it is moved after a yearm lying on concrete eggs for 12-18 months on wooden barrels and goes on sale after 3 years at the earliest.
