VINUM JUVENALE 2022 and the Wine Queen of the Czech Republic competition for 2023

This year's XXVth annual competition was organized by MIKA CZ s.r.o. Brno under the personal patronage of the Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic Zdeněk Nekula, the Governor of the South Moravian Region Jan Grolich and the Mayor of the Statutory City of Brno Markéta Vaňková.

A total of 408 samples from Slovakia, Bohemia and Moravia were entered into the competition. The expert tasting took place on 20-23 February 2023 at the OREA Congress Hotel Brno, where the president of the tasting jury was appointed Ing. Jakub Šebesta.

The tasting was conducted by a 51-member panel of experts who met the conditions of Decree No. 323/2004 Coll.
The award ceremony took place on 9 March 2023, also at the OREA Congress Hotel Brno, attended by 364 winemakers and VIP guests. The following prizes were awarded:

On 9.3. the competition Queen of Wines of the Czech Republic was held in OREA Congress hotel Brno. The competition was open only to girls and women aged between 17 and 25 who come from a wine-growing family and whose work is connected with the cultivation, production and trade of grape wine and its products.

Professional part - theoretical knowledge of viticulture and winemaking
- wine tasting - identification of 3 characteristic varieties
Social part - general and linguistic knowledge, personal speech

6 girls from wine-growing families or students of the Valtice Secondary Wine School advanced to the shortlist.

At the end of the official part, commemorative diplomas and prizes for cooperation in organizing the competition were handed over to representatives of the South MoravianRegion, the Statutory City of Brno, the Wine Fund of the Czech Republic, OREA Congress Hotel Brno, CK ČEBUS Brno and the president of the tasting jury Jakub Šebest.
The dulcimer music of Petr Galečka from Lipov and Panorama band played for listening and dancing.
