Historically biggest presentation of the wines from the Czech Republic in the prestige world trade fair ProWein

This year it is already for the sixth time when Moravian and Bohemian wine-makers will introduce their production in the international wine trade fair ProWein. The world famous wine and spirit exhibition will be held in German Düsseldorf on March 27 – 29, 2011. The official exhibition of the Czech Republic will be the biggest in the history.

The ProWein exhibition is one of the biggest and most popular wine shows in the world and this year the organisers expect 3 000 exhibitors and more than 33 000 expert visitors. The Czech exposition again will be placed in the Hall No 3 (3E20) where it will cover the historically largest area (96 m2) and present so far biggest number of exhibiting wineries.

The wines will represent production of the wineries BOHEMIA SEKT, a.s., Templářské sklepy Čejkovice – wine cooperative, Nové Vinařství, a.s. – L-G-L Group, Vinofol family winery and the company VINSELEKT MICHLOVSKÝ, a.s. (see detailed information below).

The central information desk about Moravian and Bohemian wines will be provided by the workers of the National Wine Centre and the Wine Fund that finances a considerable part of the national exhibition.

“Our participation in ProWein, one of the most significant wine shows in the world, was in the past always successful from the view point of general presentations of our wines abroad as well as from the view point of commercial success of presented wineries”, said Mr. Pavel Krška, Director of the National Wine Centre that organises the Stall and together with the Wine Fund they will organise presentation of our wines.

“It is a very interesting deed for image making of our wine abroad, similarly as the success of our wines in the most prestigious world competitions,” he added.

Similarly as last year the wines from the Czech Republic will be presented in the form of a supervised wine-tasting in the national exhibition that is focused especially on wine-businessmen and journalists. It will be held on March 27 from 14.00; March 28 from 11.00 and from 14.00, and March 29 from 11.00. The wine-tasting will be supervised by famous sommelier Ivo Dvořák, multiple winner of the Sommelier Championship in the Czech Republic and besides other awards also a winner of the World championship Habanosommelier in Cuba in 2004. The exhibition will include an introduction of Moravian and Bohemian wine-growing and tasting of typical wines from the Czech Republic, including original varieties and specialities such as ice and straw wines.

Wines from the Czech Republic will be also presented in the traditional “wine-tasting zone” with this year’s topic – “tradition vs. modernism”.

Templářské sklepy Čejkovice, wine cooperative
www.templarske-sklepy.cz
The winery Templářské sklepy Čejkovice follows its historical roots that are connected with the coming of Templar Knight Order in the 13th century. This 3rd biggest winery in the Czech Republic with the yearly sale of more than 8 million bottles is at the same time the biggest wine cooperative with 430 members and 2 000 ha of vineyards. The winery uses modern production technology as well as 750 year old cellars. The portfolio of wines offered is very wide; it includes quality, predicate, vintage and special wines.

Nové Vinařství, a.s.
www.novevinarstvi.cz
NOVÉ VINAŘSTVÍ is among the most progressive wineries in the Czech Republic. It applies a modern approach to grape growing and wine making emphasizing quality of wine as well as quality of packaging. Nové Vinařství as the first in the Czech Republic used the modern screw locks and later also glass caps VÍNO–LOK. In 2007 it was awarded the prize “Managerial Deed of the Year in Design” that reflects enormous effort that the winery dedicates to emballage.
NOVÉ VINAŘSTVÍ works on 110 ha of own vineyards near the Austrian border circa 70 km from Vienna. During the four years of its existence Nové Vinařství won 10 medals at the prestigious London exhibition DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS and 8 medals at the CONCOURS MONDIAL DE BRUXELLES.

VINSELEKT MICHLOVSKÝ, a.s.
www.michlovsky.com
The winery Vinselekt Michlovský, a. s. was established in 1993, however, long before that, there was still more than a thirty years long journey of Miloš Michlovský through the professional wine world. In 2003 the business was changed into the stock company with 60 employees nowadays. The annual production exceeds 1 million wine bottles.
The Vinselekt Michlovský grows grapes on 112 ha own vineyards managed according to the integrated production guidelines. Vineyards stretch in the warmest parts of South Moravia, in the Mikulov and Velké Pavlovice sub-regions, especially around Pálava, on the vineyard sites of Purmice, Goldhamer, Věstoňsko, Na štrekách and Trkmansko. Sunny and warm climate favourable for grapes is topped up by a rich spectrum of soils on compacted and non-compacted sediments.
Farming in integrated production is supplemented by 8.2 ha in the bio-system in Břeclav, Perná and Klentnice, a rarity is farming on 5.5 ha vineyards in Maule Valley in Chile. The company buys grapes also from the long-term suppliers that respect contractual rules and terms. During the past years wines from the Vinselekt Michlovský a.s. have become champions in practically all local competitions and reached considerable success also abroad. Biovino Hibernal was a winner among conventional wines of Grand Prix Vinex, the winery won gold and silver medals in MUNDUS VINI in Germany or Vinalies Internationales in France. Pálava 2007, selection from berries, is the first wine in history of Moravian wine-making that became an absolute champion of the world competition with OIV auspices – Israel Terravino.
The company won the competition “Winery of the Year” and was declared to be the best winery in the Czech Republic in 2009.

Family winery VINOFOL
www.vinofol.cz
The winery was founded in 1992 by brothers Pavel and Richard Foltýn. The seat of the company is in the wine-growing village of Novosedly where the wine-growing and wine-making traditions stretch back to 1552.
An indisputable advantage of the winery in the locality of 85 ha vineyards that are found in four wine-growing municipalities: Mikulov, Novosedly, Nový Přerov and Pavlov. It is known that each location has different soil and partly also climate conditions. This gives a chance to offer richer and more interesting selection of wines.
The crucial factor is of course quality of wine that always comes first. The philosophy of the VINOFOL winery is to follow the latest trends in production technology as well as in gastronomy. However, VINOFOL often gets inspiration from the many years of experience of old wine makers who had to substitute for advanced technology by the sense of originality, uniqueness and potential of the locality. Selection of suitable varieties for the terroir and maturation of wines in wooden barrels from French oaks is the best proof. The collection of bottled wines is divided into the categories of Pavlov Exclusive, Novosedly Exclusive, Novosedly výběr/Selection and Novosedly Classic.
A certain feedback about the correct way of VINOFOL is in many awards from the local and international exhibitions, e.g. gold, silver and bronze medals from IWC in San Francisco, gold medal from Prague Wine Trophy or three silver medals from AWC Vienna. However, a clear sign of quality is the growing interest in wines produced by this winery.

The National Wine Centre / Wine Fund
www.vinarskecentrum.cz / www.vinarskyfond.cz
The National Wine Centre is a non-profit organisation situated in the Valtice Chateau. Its objective is the promotion and support of wine and viticulture of the Czech Republic, not only with the help of the Wine Salon of CR, but also via expert literature publishing, organising training courses and seminars etc. It closely cooperates with the Wine Fund of the Czech Republic.
Wine Fund was established in 2002 on the basis of a change of the “Wine Act”. Prior to the entry of CR into EU its objective was to support planting of new vineyards in the wine-growing regions Moravia and Bohemia; nowadays it supports only wine marketing, wine tourism development and informs public about wine-growing and wine-making. The Wine Fund works on similar basis as organisations in other European wine-growing countries.
