Moravian winemakers are bringing 23 medals from the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles

Gold medals for this year:

- Winery Čech for Rhine Riesling, late harvest, 2010 and Sauvignon, late harvest, 2010
- Winery Baloun for Moravian Muscat, late harvest, 2011
- Habánské cellars for Rhine Riesling, late harvest, 2011
- Tomáš Krist for Traminer, grape selection, 2011
- Znovín Znojmo for Rhine Riesling, ice wine, 2009
- Chateau Winery Bzenec for Rhine Riesling, grape selection, 2009
- Winerey Sonberk for Sauvignon, 2010

The professional jury has traditionally included Czech wine experts – for this year:
Ing. Pavel Krška, JUDr. Luboš Bárta, Michal Šetka and Ing. Richard Stávek.

"Wines from the Czech Republic have traditionally been successful at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. The perfect organization, and the sophisticated and discerning way of sample evaluation and the comparison to the absolute world leaders gives our achievements and medals something more,"commented ing. Pavel Krška, director of the National Wine Centre.

Despite the global recession in the wine industry, an incredible 8,397 wine samples took part in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles this year, (about 1,000 wines more than last year) from 52 countries, which only highlighted the position of the competition as at the very top of wine rating.

The competition was held for the first time in 1994 in Bruges, when "only" 861 samples were assessed. In subsequent years, the assessment took place in Brussels and other Belgium cities. Even then the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles had become one of the world's most prestigious wine competitions – as a result the organizers decided to strenghten its international character in 2006 and moved the evaluation from Belgium to other major European cities. It started in Lisbon, followed by Maastricht, Bordeaux, Valencia, Palermo, Luxembourg last year and Guimaraes this year.
