Award Winning Wine from the Czech Republic Tours America

The SF International Wine Competition takes double gold winners on a multi-city tour. At the most prestigious wine competition in the US, the 2014 Best in Show white wine was awarded to a 2013 Riesling from the Czech Republic. Although the Czech Republic, more specifically, the wine region of South Moravia, has been making wine since Roman times, their quality has remained a secret until now. This win in San Francisco tops a very successful year for Moravian wines, having won awards at most of the world's top competitions.

The Petr Vacenovsky 2013 Riesling will join other double gold winners in an exclusive multi-city tour open only to trade and press. From September 16 through November 8, the tour will delight wine afficionados in eleven cities, including San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, D.C., New York, Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas and Dallas. Of 4,570 entries from across the globe, only 123 (2.7%) were from Czech Republic; yet the Czech Republic took home 5% of the double gold medals as well as the Best White Wine in the Show. In total, wines from the Czech Republic amassed an incredible 92 medals. "Such a high share in the awards naturally bears witness to the quality of Moravian and Czech wineries as a whole," according to Pavel Krška, director of the National Wine Center.

Moravian wines are in limited distribution in fine restaurants and bottle shops in NY, CT, RI, NJ, IL, CA, WY and TX.
