Characteristics of the trail
The shortest wine trail follows the border of the region mostly along 3rd class roads, the short off-road stretches offer some magnificent views of the landcape and are lightly passable in all weather. The most demanding section is the crossing of the sandy stretch from the crossroads of the trail at Hrubý Háj in the direction of Bzenec. The track circuit connects to the Kyjov, Uherské Hradiště and Strážnice wine trails, part of the trail runs parallel with the Moravian backbone wine trail which passes through the region on the way from Uherské Hradiště to Znojmo. The adornment of the colourful circuit, which is complemented by the Moravian wine trail backbone, are the numerous illustrations of rural folk architecture and a visit to a traditional wine centre in the region of interwoven cellar lanes. The highest point of the trail is a place with far-reaching views to the east of the village of Újezdec /380 metres above sea level/ a flat section of the track running at an altitude of 200 m /Bzenec/.

Wine region
The wine region which gave this trail its name is today a part of the Slovácko wine sub-region and boasts a varietal composition and character of the wines coming from the long winemaking tradition of the town of Bzenec. This royal town, which in 2015 celebrated a thousand years of its existence, has given Moravian winemaking the renowned brand-name wine Bzenecká lipka, with its scents of lime flowers from the thousand-year-old tree in the chateau park, which comes from a wonderful blend of several Rieslings. You will be able to taste predominantly white wine of the best quality in the other wine communes of the Bzenec district. The labyrinthine lanes referred to as “zmoly” in the northern part of Bzenec and below the hillock known as Starý Hrad are interlaced with the cellars belonging to artisanal winemakers. Many of these cellars serve as an illustration of the enchanting beauty of our folk-cellar architecture.
