The family's winemaking tradition dates back to the 18th century. The winery was founded by Antonín Petratur in 1934. The vineyard is located in the vineyard line of Roháče. The wine production is based on traditional methods and procedures, fermentation with natural yeasts is used, and the wines are aged in wooden barrels.
The variety was bred by the director of the wine school in Klosterneuburg in Austria, Dr. F. Zweigelt in 1922 and its expansion to other countries was credited after the Second World War to Dr. Lenz Moser.
